Data Interpretation Issues

BRFSS data are weighted for the probability of selection of a telephone number, the number of adults in a household, and the number of phones in a household and adjusted to reflect the demographic distribution of North Carolina's adult population (ages 18 and older). For more technical information about BRFSS, please visit national BRFSS web site: http://www.cdc.gov/brfss/

Why Is This Important?

"Physical activity is an important factor affecting overall health as well as body weight. Regular physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. Regular physical activity also reduces risk for certain cancers, strengthens bones and muscles, and improves mental health." - North Carolina Institute of Medicine.
