Indicator Report - Percentage of High School Students Who Had Alcohol on One or More of the Past 30 Days by Grade, 2009
Why Is This Important?"One in three high school students in North Carolina reports having at least one drink of alcohol in the past 30 days. Youth are more likely to drink in larger quantities and to engage in binge drinking than adults. Youth are also particularly susceptible to the influence of alcohol because it affects the developing brain. Furthermore, early onset of drinking increases the risk of alcohol addiction."- North Carolina Institute of Medicine. Healthy North Carolina 2020: A Better State of Health.
