Deaths were coded under the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Age-adjusted death rates were calculated using the direct method and the projected United States 2000 population as the standard.  The HNC 2020 target, which is the target to be reached by 2020, is repeated in the data table for graphing purposes.
